Ingredients Needed To Make Ambrosia Salad
- Canned Pineapple chunks
- Canned Mandarin oranges
- Maraschino cherries
- Green grapes – halved
- Pecans – chopped
- Mini marshmallows
- Sweetened Coconut flakes
- Sour Cream
- Heavy cream
- Sugar
- Vanilla
PRO TIP: I recommend using powdered sugar in your homemade whipped cream because it’ll dissolve into the heavy cream. Using granulated sugar will also work, just make sure it’s very finely granulated.

How To Make Ambrosia Salad
- Place pineapple chunks and oranges in a strainer and set aside for approximately 30-45 minutes to completely drain. Drain cherries, rinse in cold water and set aside with other fruit to drain.
- Add heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla to the bowl of a stand mixer and whip until stiff peaks form, about 3-5 minutes. Fold half the sour cream using a spatula, then fold in the remaining sour cream, careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
- Gently stir coconut and marshmallows into the whipped cream mixture. Add in drained fruits, sliced grapes, and nuts, stirring gently to incorporate. Cover the bowl in plastic wrap and chill until ready to serve.

How Healthy Is Ambrosia Salad?
For a healthier version, you can use low-fat sour cream, fresh pineapple, fresh orange or clementine slices, fresh cherries, and low-sugar marshmallows. Personally, I love the bright flavors in the original version of this recipe, with all the canned ingredients, but it’s totally up to you!
